Experience the Mountains with Local Experts

To truly experience the magic of the Eastern Highlands, we recommend stepping off the beaten path with a professional local guide. The mountains are a vast wilderness of quartzite ridges, hidden caves, and rare endemic flora—wonders that are best discovered through the eyes of those who have lived among them their entire lives.

Why Book a Local Guide?
Beyond simple navigation, our network of community-trained guides offers a deep immersion into the soul of the region. They are experts in the geology of the Chimanimani range, the unique highland birdlife, and the traditional history of the Ndau people. Whether you are planning a challenging three-day trek to Mount Binga (Zimbabwe's second-highest peak) or a gentle afternoon walk to Bridal Veil Falls, a guide ensures your journey is safe, educational, and culturally enriched.

Supporting the Community
At Heaven Lodge, we take pride in supporting our local community. All the guides we recommend are part of the local guide association and have undergone rigorous training in mountain safety and environmental conservation. By hiring a local expert, you are directly contributing to the sustainable development and preservation of this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Book in Advance:
Contact us when making your reservation, and we can arrange for a guide to meet you upon arrival.

Tailored Itineraries:
Whether you want to focus on photography, birdwatching, or peak-bagging, your guide can customize the route to match your fitness level and interests.

Because every group has different goals, fitness levels, and timelines, we price each package individually based on your requirements. Below are a few examples of how we structure our rates:

Small Group Mountain Trekking (Example):
A fully inclusive package for a group of up to four experienced walkers tackling an advanced route—such as the Mbira Trail—costs approximately US$600 per person. This includes all guiding fees, transport, meals, and accommodation.

School or Youth Group (Example):
An educational package for a larger group of 20 to 30 students costs approximately US$120 per person for a 2-to-3-day itinerary covering local activities, group meals, and shared accommodation.

To discuss an itinerary for your school, club, or travel group, get in touch with us with your group size, preferred dates, and the types of activities you want to prioritize. We will work with you to build a practical schedule and a clear, transparent cost breakdown.
